This session will introduce you to some Windows tweaks & tips, using software (all freeware) to safely modify registry settings. The session also looks at Firefox and Thunderbird as alternative Browsers to Internet Explorer, Outlook and Outlook Express.

They usually click on the first search result, even though it might be invalid, have bias content, or be total propaganda. Come learn how to teach your students to effectively and efficiently search on the Internet. You and your students will develop the ability to better evaluate and validate websites. You will learn many tips and tricks on how to "clean up" student searches, as well as, your own.

    The Emerging Technology Game provides educators the opportunity to take a fun look at several new technologies and applications that are making their way to their classrooms. During this session over videoconference, we will examine several technologies (Google, Podcasting, Blogging, Video on-Demand, Second Life, videoconferencing and digital storytelling), how they can be used in K-12 classrooms and examples of best practices. Offered in game show format, this session is very interactive.

    Walk with me through a typical day in the life or a teacher whose pedagogy is infused with all sorts of web 2.0 tools. We'll explore how teaching and professional development intersect in the course of a normal day and how a blog can serve as the central hub for the online presence of several different classes. The discussion focuses more on pedagogy than how a particular tool works.

    You will be asking Harvey Almarode "Halgudodat?" as he facilitates this session in extending your SMART Board Notebook skills by completing each of the challenges in this fun filled, hands-on session. BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop) loaded with SMART Board Notebook 10 software and after completing the challenges you will have a collection of objects and images that can be utilized in the creation of your own engaging notebook lessons.

    Learn tips and techniques on how to transform your mathematics classroom into a colorful, engaging, and interactive experience for your students. This lively session will take you through lesson demonstrations that were created especially for the SMART Board. You will see first hand how the combination of Brain-based learning strategies with sound mathematical instructional strategies can be integrated with the use of the SMART Board with the result being the engagement of the student in the learning of mathematical concepts. The facilitator, Harvey Almarode, is a retired K-12 Mathematics/Instructional Technology Supervisor. His lessons from HarveysHomePage are utilized internationally and are known for their creativity and student engagement. He is a frequent speaker at local, state, and national technology and mathematics conferences and has assisted various school divisions up and down the east coast with staff development in mathematics and technology integration.
